The Right Parent | Episode 1 | Preventing Suicide

India ranks amongst the world’s highest in suicide rates in youth aged 15 to 29. In 2015 alone, the number of student suicides reported was 8,934. In the five years before that, about 39,775 students killed themselves. And to think that this is only the reported number of suicide related deaths; the number of attempted suicides is bound to be much higher.

What can parents do to prevent this? What actions of theirs leads their teenage son to take his or her life? Are the students and the young adults to blame?

In this first episode of The Right Parent, Champa Saha, a trained counsellor and educator discusses approaches that parents should take when they feel that their son or daughter is contemplating taking their own lives. A must watch for all parents.
